In the New Haven house, we share a large backyard and barn with our landlady, Julie and her girlfriend/partner. Their three kids are frequently outside with their golden retriever and black and silver mutt, and sometimes I’ll join them if they’re hula hooping or doing something that I’m good at.

Julie told me that they were all driving in Maine the other day when the kids starting shouting, “hey, look at that lady on the street, she looks just like Maude’s mom!”

It took them a couple minutes to figure out that they were referring to me.
